Stanley,

Unfortunately wind speed and direction at low altitude in Sai Kung is quite disappointing, according to data from the local auto weather station. I guess the islands and hills to the east must have blocked off the wind a bit.

Last Saturday while you were down there having no wind, I was soaring high up in Ma On Shan, in about 15 to 20km/h easterly with a max of 27km/h recorded.

Willy, although the altitude of this slope is only 80 m and there are outer islands on the east, I guess the lift it generates on moderate easterly wind is really good. Last time I saw many big birds soaring along the slope gracefully without flipping their wings even the wind speed was quite low. I guess with 10 to 20 km wind, this slope will be wonderful to soar.

明日星期六吹東至東北風有3至4級,但高地有大霧,馬鞍山和飛鵝山都可能放唔到機,有冇人想去白沙灣試試個場?我大約會在下午2點半到達,由消防局條路入。

Wing and me went there this afternoon. However, trees grow a lot and we could hardly find a suitable flying and landing area.

The F3F race today was cancelled due to heavy fog up on the Ma On Shan mountain. So we went to Pak Sha Wan to check out whether we can fly gliders or even run contest there. Indeed, the slope is soarable and the lift it generated is good enough for having good funs there. There are some small trees in landing area. After they were cleared up a bit, we didn't have any problem even landing our big F3F planes. Here are some movies taken:

Ah Kin's RaceM

Really hope that we have backup slope during Spring time when the fog are previaling!
