1, It can fly inverted essentially the same as upright.

Yes, agreed but for powerless glider, this is not possible

Quote:
2, The 3 axis controls are not coupled.

Agreed, but we might need aileron/rudder/elevator mixing for some aerobatic maneuver.

Quote:
3, Wide flying speed range.

Agreed, but I think another factor such as low drag is equally important for glider

Quote:
Zero dihedral to minimize yaw-roll couple.

Agreed.

Quote:
Zero swept back to minimize yaw-roll couple.

Agreed.

Quote:
Short vertical stabilizer to minimize yaw-roll couple.

Partially agreed, but we might need large rudder to perform aerobatic move such as slow 4-point roll.

Quote:
Small aspect ratio to reduce roll-yaw couple.

Strongly agreed!

Quote:
Spanwise ailerons instead of tip ailerons to reduce roll-yaw couple.

Strongly agreed!

Quote:
Cross / low tail instead of V tail or T tail.

Strongly agreed!

Quote:
Relatively thick airfoil to reduce stall speed and less sensitive to speed change.

Partially agreed, but we need low drag airfoil for higher energy retention which is contradictive to thick airfoil

Quote:
Symmetrical (not quit sure) airfoil for equal flying characteristic when inverted.

Partially disagreed, symmetrical airfoil is only suitable for power models. For gliders, we need to accumulate energy with lift generating airfoil (asymmetric).

Quote:
Backward cg and zero decalage so less sensitive to flying speed and less trim in inverted flight.

Agreed, but backward cg may be too jerky to control. To my experience, MG06 type of airfoil with very backward cg is a good choice for both normal and invert flight.

Quote:
Long tail moment to compensate for the stability loss in backward cg.

Irrelevant, if stability is not a problem. In fact I believe short tail moment is an advantage for aerobatic maneuver.

Quote:
Accurately built and balanced so that flying characteristic does not change with flying speed and attitude.

Totally agreed.

Quote:
Optimized wing loading for balanced energy retention and agility.

Totally agreed.

Stanley,

Just one comment: we usually see long tail moment in F3A pattern planes. I think there must be some advantage in this design.

[CM quote]

Stanley,

你有冇考慮到點樣排隊形,因glider是冇動力,想飛快

Stanley,

I agree with Henry. I think it is really difficult to keep a formation flight by using R/C planes, especially gliders. Just thinking about using three planes for a "triangle" pattern, even flying a round trip is difficult. The plane flying at the outside track has to fly FASTER to keep the triangle pattern.

I think if we can do a good formation flight is already a big achievement, and is already exciting to the audience. Doing aerobatic can be the next step.

I understand that to fly formation is very difficult for gliders. I would say it is possible only in a short period of time when the planes fly pass in formation in front of the slope. Away from the slope this is even more difficult.

I don't think
"炒埋一碟" is an issue because all these planes are travelling on the same direction with similar speed, even there is a collision, it will only be a minor problem with little or no damage.

Once we managed to do formation flight closed to the slope, we can practice aerobatic such as roll. Let's see what we can achieve!

Something like this:

I would like to offer a very special discount for 12 pcs Easy Pro for this formation test.

Can we use air brake to control flying speed during formation? If your TX has program mix to use throttle stick to control air-brake will work best!

You are right, the air brake can make the speed slow down but cannot make the speed fast as the planes are not going straight all the time. You can imagine how the pattern looks like after turning. Just like what CM said, the outside one must fly faster than the inside one. Otherwise, it cannot keep its position after turning eventually. The only solution is changing another pattern after the turning but we have to make a planning and try.

Why not use the China 2 meter sport plane? It is build for aerobatic, fully molded, affordable price, fast and stable. Only problem is the plane doesn't have rudder control.

WingDragon, do you have information, spec, and photos about this plane? If it is suitable, I think we can modify it to have rudder.
