Of course you can, but I think it is much longer and harder to walk up from Lobster bay. Remember we are talking about the northerly slope on the mountain top, not the northeast slope we used to fly just above Lobster bay.

Seems the site is in the area of country park. Is RC soaring allowed like what we can do at MOS?

According to country park ordinance, flying powerless model gliders within the country park should be ok.

How's the orientation of slope as mentioned in the above :?:

Current estimate from WindGURU on Oct 7 (SUN) is around 4 m/s NW during 8am, then shifting to WNW at 11am and eventually shift to direct West wind (3 - 4 m/s) from 14pm and onwards :?

Is it possible to investigate Plan B  Say f3f on Oct 19 (public holiday) or Oct 21 (Sun)

Just want to share further that I am open to conduct f3f in other Northern slope (in fact we should explore that) given the weather forecast is more promising :o

The issue now is WindGURU forecast seems too westly and not sure if flyable in those north facing slopes for coming weekend :?

I believe the mountian top in Tai Leng Tung has various slopes facing NWN, W, S, NE, E directions, so it is most likely ok for different wind directions. My only worry is the wind speed of only scale 3. But generally, northerly wind are strong even with scale 3. I hope someone can go up there tomorrow to check it up and report back for a go or no go tomorrow night.

I remebered about a year ago, Angus, Fat Fai and I visited Tai Leng Tung to explore fly sites. It took about 30min to walk from Lobster Bay. The north surfacing slope, as seen in the previous photo, is very good on lift and should be long enough to lay for a 100m track. But for the west slope, I don't think is possible have a 100m separation between point A & B at an attitude that can be seen at the pilot pt. Besides, the grass is long and up to waist. It may hinder powerful launch of 3m ships. However, landing should not be difficult, be simliar to HJP, as the grass is long and soft. Worth to have some updated information on whether the site is suitable for racing under NW and W wind.

What I mean for the westerly slope is a slope at a bit lower part north to the mountain top as seen from the maps and photo below. I believe the slope face has length much more than 100m. Overall, the whole mountain is suitable for wind from almost all directions.

Just heard that a search team identified & tested another NW/W face slope this afternoon near "Sa Tau Kwok" :o

So likely will proceed to f3f there tomorrow and please charge up planes and observe the annoucement here later this evening re when & where to meet :o

p.s. Many thanks to the serach team's effort :!:

呢個係我見過最好既北風場﹐聽日比賽應該幾掂。但要記住帶回鄉證﹐因為隨時要過深圳果邊執機。

HKO is showing Ta Kwn Ling & Tai Mei Tuk with VRB and frequent changing wind direction. Sai Kung is showing a more consistent wind direction at NW and W. Will Tai Leng Tung westerly and northerly slope be more suitable?

I just checked the weather. The wind condition is very similar to that of yesterday. Since the new site is 400m height located on top of a northwesterly valley, I believe the lift today is good enough for F3F as was yesterday.
So we proceed to our plan and meet you all in the car park at 9:30am.

Cheers
