By the way, can we also try walking to the landing area away from the track? We really need to think seriously for this landing practice for the forcoming HK Open.

It's a good idea and worth to try. But with the experience at LEUNG KING, there's not much gain to shorten the duration for each round. A pilot has to be escorted by his team member for landing. As a host, we're also running out of helpers. Local team itself has to deploy members in turn as CD, keeper of Point A, B...etc. Local pilots are likely be on his own to walk for landing that will lengthen the time for landing.
A 2 to 4 min time slot for each pilot should be fine from launching to complete landing.
It will take 1.5 to 2.5 hr to finish each round with 40 pilots. It's likely that 3 rounds can be made a day or may be 4 rnd if things are smooth. Are we target for 4 to 5 rnd a day?
The existing landing track is good to experts & those who are unfamiliar with the site. Most can land the planes with 1 to 3 attemps that will only take 20 to 40 sec. Will landing at nearby area be as safe as the curernt practice and can take a shorter duration? Else the bottleneck be on landing, resulting in traffic conjection at the landing area.

Location to be confirmed, MOS or HJP, depending on wind direction in the morning

Certainly we should select the location base on the wind direction in the morning. HJP used to be a good f3f site and I enjoyed flying there

Just to share that this morning I went up to HJP with full ballast on my 2.5m Big Bird. But the wind and lift were both very uneven and unstable that extremely hard to climb up & always being blow off from the track :? Also with the intervention of cross wind, no much speed retention can be achieved - I would say not f3f-able but merely struggle in air :?

Also landling was very challenging in such condition, with my so-so landing skills, I almost needed 10 rounds of circling my plane before she can landed safely

No sure if the condition will become stablized in the afternoon or tomorrow for HJP :?

Both WindGURU and HKO predicts NE wind tomorrow so likely we'd fly in HJP tomorrow. This is a good chance to test the condition of HJP because it is a possible slope for HK Open.

For separate landing arrangement, it is a common practise in all European competitions and it can save substantial racing time. Time slot assiged by each pilot can be reduced from 4 min to 2 min. However, we have to clear up the path in MOS and make sure paragliders free. During HK Open, I'd prepare a roster so that that each local pilot shall serve as buzzerman for one round per day only. CD will Ken. Therefore, we should have sufficient pilots to assist landing.

According to the HKO and the northerly wind today, I think the wind will be straight north rather than northeast tomorrow, and I believe HJP is not suitable either. Should we postpone the race to 26/9 or go to find a suitable northerly slope such as this one in Yuen Long?

唔比賽的話,放機有幾個地方選擇:
大清北位
飛鵝山北位或木屋仔北位
龍蝦灣北位

如果去牛潭美搵場不如而家出發,早D入去睇睇,掂

A very nice day of practice ! Clear sky all day long with non-burning sunshine !

Very steady & strong direct eastern wind from morning to noon with constantly 10 – 11 m/s and occasionally up to 14 m/s ! The condition then became mild to 5 – 7 m/s with good thermal in the afternoon

In order to minimize damage due to landing in strong condition and save time, the practice race was performed by “3 x 4” mode with each pilot consecutively exercise 3 runs at a time, with the later 2 runs by deploying butterfly. Overall 3 x 4 = 12 rounds where flown

AKFF team seems to be most hard working with two early birds start burning the air before everyone came to the slope. Sure AKFF team demonstrated great teamwork with full participation from Ah Kin, Fat Fai & Angus – 3 guys just dressed the same look team T-shirt like brothers ! Biggest achievement for AKFF team today should be the ability to gain the speed man at 38.xx ! Overall AKFF team took 2nd, 3rd & 5th position

SMP (“Slowest Model Plane”) also participated actively with Ah Mak, Ah Pong joined the race, with f3f weapons borrowed from somewhere instead of using their own top guns ! Nevertheless, their racing performance was outstanding and took the Champion position & 4th place today

So again, SMP & AKFF “occupied the top 5 positions” !

Apart from usual classmates like Allan, Yeung (MOS tiger) and myself (Wing), very glad to have Barry practicing with us with a very beautiful purple color RaceM ! Although it was Barry’s first time to join us in f3f practice, we all observed Barry performed very well with encouraging timing !

Probably the follow up actions for 45% participants today will be some minor to moderate repairing work due to kissed on trees, lost control in Base B and crashing in “happy hour fly” – lucky that all were limited damages and should not impact to upcoming HK Open ! Look forward to see those planes up in air again !
