Really want practice more with this race before fly out to join Welsh OPEN :o

如果 windguru also predicts 東風 4-5 級就真喺正,right now winguru prediction not align with HKO yet, not much 東風 at all :?

以目前的天氣預測,應該是第三個case:
有Stanley + 有風 + 比賽日 => 落雨

希望有奇蹟啦 :!:

Can we also prepare for the race day on 8Sep? According to HKO's forecast, it's more likely to rain on 9Sep though there could be stronger wind. Speed or no race?

I will not be available on Sat as I will be on the plane flying home (I am right now in Poland). Please stick with the scheduled race on 9 Sept (Sunday). Weather forcast for that day is stronger wind so it is time to create your new personal best! :lol: :lol:

Hi Alan,

This would be a difficult question for me!! :roll: :roll:

Image

As to the current league score sheet, Stanley is leading me 76 scores only. If we hold the race on coming Saturday, he would be definitely unable to come, whilst I would have a very good chance to replace his 1st runner up position! :twisted: :twisted:

However, what is the point to have a team? I shouldn't betray my dirty old team mate.

It just like the evil and the angel talking to me at either side of my head! :?: :?:

:idea: :idea:

OK, I opt for Sunday eventually.

Regards,

As per discussion in HKRCSS meeting, the league is NOT relating to the qualification of VR2008. Separate VR qualifying race shall be carried out in early 2008.

As per discussion in HKRCSS meeting, the league is NOT relating to the qualification of VR2008. Separate VR qualifying race shall be carried out in early 2008.

To my understanding, we will have two VR qualify races to select pilots to go to future Viking Races, and to avoid too many contests in our already busy monthly schedule, these two VRQ races should not be additionally scheduled, instead, two races from our scheduled league races will be selected and designated as VR qualifying races. Up to now, we haven't talked about which months will be designated. Since VR2008 will be held in September 2008 and considering having good wind for our VRQ races, I would say, this year December and next year February would be appropriate, and the qualified team should still have sufficient time to prepare and to do training.

We also discussed in last HKRCSS meeting that if these two VRQ races are cancelled due to bad weather, no re-scheduling is allowed in order not to have confusion and unfair to any pilot who may not be able to join the re-scheduled races. Instead, we will use the league result if this case should arrive, and as said in the meeting this is also a good sign to encourage pilots to join the league races more often, instead of just coming to the VRQ races and grabbing the membership of HK VR team.

Angus, so you are right in some senses that HK VR2008 team is determined by two VRQ races sometimes later, but the current league result may be important too if these two VRQ races can not be held for reason of poor weather! :lol: :lol: Anyway, we haven't talked about how to count, if only one VRQ is held or no VRQ is held. More discussion, please!

By the way, I am actually quite against to re-schedule our league race which is cancelled due to bad weather because this may be unfair to some pilots and may also offset the normal race schedule and other activities. In fact, as I remember, this is a decision in a HKRCSS meeting for not to re-schedule F3F league race if it is cancelled.

Some ideas to share :o wish helpful :idea:

1. VRQ schedules

If everyone wants 2 rounds of VRQ (no matter embedded as monthly league race or run independently), then let’s consider if we want to make clear a tentative schedule with backup dates

For example (if embedded as monthly league):

VRQ1 – 2007 league 12
VRQ2 – 2008 league 1

VRQ1* – 2008 league 1 (as back up if original VRQ1 not able to execute)
VRQ2* – 2008 league 2 (as back up if original VRQ2 not able to execute)

The idea is to ensure such schedule arrangement make known to everyone in advance so that we can try best (shooting 2 out of 4 schedules) to fully complete VRQ1 + VRQ2 as a “perfect qualification mechanism” Especially during 2008 Spring time, weather forecast is much more to accurately predict

2. VRQ backup qualifying score

If turn up due to naughty wind god / rain god only one VRQ race can be held or no VRQ race at all out of 4 schedules, then better agree to some backup qualifying score in advance, such as:

X = (HK 2007 F3F OPEN) normalized to max 1000 pts

Y = (Top 4 best normalized score selected from 2007 league 1 – 11)* / 4

If only one VRQ can be executed, then the qualifying score will be :

Q = VRQ x 50% + X * 25% + Y * 25%

If no VRQ can be executed, then the qualifying score will be:

Q = X*50% + Y* 50%

The rationale is to incorporate pilots’ performance in F3F HK OPEN (which is crucial race in Asia), together with pilot’s overall performance in monthly leagues but allow those late joiners with limited participation at early stage of 2007 league to be considered

3. Finally, no matter which approach, guess it will be important to set the “game rules” asap – no rules are perfect are anyway but more important to agree that with participants in advance

4. As a classmate, I always opt for re-schedule monthly league as long as there are sufficient advance notice and no adverse comment from pilots due to their availability issue – So far I understand we respect to those pilots expressed availability issue and not forcing to re-schedule :!:

I enjoyed the monthly league this year a lot :o I see it’s a very good mechanism not just practice f3f skills but making good friends :!: So why not allow to re-schedule if it can fit to most pilots to maximize practicing opportunities :idea:

Today's contest was challenging and full of interesting results. We managed to have 11 rounds of contest with variable wind speeds between 3m/s - 10m/s.
Congratulation to the winners:

Champion: K.Y. Mak
1st Runner-up: Stanley Chan
2nd Runner-up: Angus Lee
Speedy Man: Stanley Chan

Here is a detailed score sheet
http://www.hkrcss.org/F3FGroup/mos909-07.xls

Please note that there are some programming errors in the spreadsheet, but it doesn't seem to alter the ranking.
The winner of round 11 and also speedy man doesn't show up!
Also, the average scores for all pilots seem incorrect (Angus please don't use this score to do the calculation yet).
Ah Mak, please check the program and let me have the bug-free version. Anyway, I will try to input the data to other F3F spreadsheet to double check.

Here are some photos

Champion, Ah Mak received his trophy

1st runner-up, Stanley received his trophy

2nd runner up is Angus

Cheers, see you next time!

I have double checked the data using other F3F spreadsheet. The total scores and ranking are correct, however, the average scores are incorrect! The aveagre scores should be the total scores divided by 10 (we have 11 rounds with 1 discard round). Angus, please be sure to use the right average scores to calculate the league table.

I update the score sheet and prepare the report-

http://www.hkrcss.org/F3FGroup/F3F_2007_09_09_MOS_E.htm

It is just a minor bug that DIS-B should be removed unless we have more than 14 rounds.
