Excellent idea and fully support the suggestion that we should take more opportunity to adapt different types of slopes :o

Just hope the selected flying site will not be too difficult to land :?

I think Shek O is not that suitable for holding F3F contests, partly because the race track overlaps with the paraglider launching pad, also there may be other r/c gliders flying in the site.

I prefer to go to Ko Lau Wan because it is remote and sure has no other disturbance like we have in Ma On Shan or Shek O (paragliders). The landing should be easier and the race track is straight and long. The only problem is the transport. We need to park our cars in Pak Tam Chung in earlier morning < 8:00am, otherwise, you might have difficulty to find a parking space on Sunday.

Anyway, it is a good place for a day of outing and soaring, so going there with a team of devoted F3F pilots would be an enjoyable event, at least not many of you been there before, the site is new to you and worth trying.

Just ckecked the time table for the boat to Ko Lau Wan from Ma Liu Shiu. It seems perfect for us who live in Shatin, Tai Po, Ma On Shan areas.

Image

Proposed itinerary (Sunday, 19 Nov. 2006)

Get on the boat in Ma Liu Shui at 8:30am (park the car in Science Park)
Arrived Ko Lau Wan at 10:05am
It takes 20 minutes to walk up to the slope
Start the F3F contest at 11:30am
Finish at 4:30pm and walk down to the pier
Return boat leaves at 5:20pm
Arrived Ma Liu Shui at 6:45pm
Cost is $25 one-way

How many of you will go?

Stanley, 你最近有否到高流灣山坡?

我10月30日重陽節在海面(往塔門的街渡,近高流灣時)所見,條闊到可讓貨車上山的泥路,已經睇唔見。

Nov 19 seems not good ... recent weather forecast:

大致多雲,有幾陣微雨 - 微風2級

Suggest to consider re-schedule with early notification as some pilot may fly from Taiwan to jon - don't waste their air ticket :?

Good idea! It seems that Stanley's proposal mentioned in the Thermal Forum is in action.
Will the event for either the F3F, the DLG and LMR be in contest format or a fun gathering?

I think most likely the activity will be postponed. Anyway, if the weather forecast remains unfavorable by tomorrow night, we will postpone the activity. Any suggestion for a re-scheduled date? Obviously, we can not choose the dates that are earmarked for HKRCSS activities.

Weather update for this Sunday (19/11)

Wind: LIGHT WINDS FORCE 2, BECOMING NORTH FORCE 3 LATER.
Weather: CLOUDY WITH A FEW RAIN PATCHES.
Temp: 22-25 C
RH: 80-90 PER CENT

It seems that there will be some wind but not good enough for F3F. DLG is also not suitable because there will be no sunlight. Any suggestion?

The newest weather forecast will be easterly 2 to 3, so it may be ok to go to Ko Lau Wan for slope soaring. What do you think guys?

Wind: EAST FORCE 2 TO 3, BECOMING NORTH FORCE 3.
Weather: MAINLY CLOUDY WITH A FEW RAIN PATCHES.
Temp: 22-25 C
RH: 75-95 PER CENT

Changed again and look even more promising! Shall we go?

Wind: EAST FORCE 3, BECOMING NORTH FORCE 3 TO 4.
Weather: MAINLY CLOUDY. MISTY WITH A FEW RAIN PATCHES IN THE MORNING.
Temp: 22-25 C
RH: 75-95 PER CENT

Hi F3F pilots,

Due to unpredictable weather tomorrow, the trip to Ko Lau Wan may be a bit risky, so we are proposing to have an unofficial F3F race in Ma On Shan instead. Pilot briefing at 10:00am and the race will be started at 10:30am.

C.M., Mak, Y.C., please bring the F3F equipment.

Cheers

:D :D

10:00 AM is a bit late due to the wind might change to northerly later on. I propose the briefing to be held at 09:00, and starting the race at 09:30.

Please be punctual !!

Regards.
