Please be remind that HKRCSS is planning to hold a F3B contest in August.
We are still working out the rules and details for this contest. Basically, F3B contest composes of a thermal duration and a speed task.

Contest venue and equipment are the most important logistic we need to solve from now.

Please provide comments, information and discuss the loogistic arrangement. Thanks

Hi Stanley,

I briefly read the F3B codes. I think the current F3F timer can be used in F3B with a change of the software.

Hi guys,

Shall we go to Shamchung this Sunday or next to test the F3B course and the winch in preparation for the F3B contest in July?

CM,

How long you need the poles to be.

Hi Ken,

They are "sighting" poles to set up two virtual plans. Not necessary to be a long one as the plane will not fly around it like a pylon racer :D We can use the same setup as in F3F.

I want to know if the coming event is mainly for the pilots to familiar with the operation of the winch, or is it a full rehearsal of the F3B contest. If it is the latter case then we have to prepare the timing gears as well as the sighting poles.

For task A & B, will there be more than one winch be provided to launch the planes for multiple pilots at the same starting time. Or pilots should bring their own lauching device, say winch or bungee on the contest day? Or the contest be in turns of one man solo?

I think we cannot allow more than one plane in each round for task A and B.
Within the working time, the pilot can have as many launch as he like. For this reason the winch must be reserved for him in the working time . . . . And here is the main point: We have only one winch  :P

We need to take the big F3B gliders with tow hook, so if we can figure out an easy way to transport these planes to Shamchung, it would be most appreciated.

From last experience, it is not harsh for carrying F3B ships because the path is level and easy. However, the battery is another issue. Thus, it is necessary to have a bike, which also be used for collecting the parachute after each launching. Without the bike, you may get heat stroke easily after a few attempts. As I remember, bikes can be lent somewhere at Yung Shue O.

I have the timer battery charing right now, and I can bring my bicycle with me.
However, my Newsting is still waiting for repair from last ShamChung trips water damage!

Hi Stanley, if you are unable to come, the wind would be too strong for F3B.

YC,
