Dear fellow HK F3F soarers,

Viking Race 2006 will be held in Scotland from 8 to 15 September, 2006.

Hong Kong will send at least one team to participate in the race. If the organizer allows, we may be able to send more teams but it is very unlikely. So we need to start the selection process for forming the best team to represent HK - that comes the VR2006 qualifying races.

I think we need to organize at least two qualifying races as soon as possible. The total scores of the race will be used in the ranking list to select the pilots in the team. I have the following dates in mind:

Race 1: 18 December 2005 (Sunday)
Race 2: 8 January 2006 (Sunday)

Do you have other suggestions, or should we check with 通勝 to ask the weather God for providing us with big wind?

Hi Stanley,

Is the qualification race openned to the public (like the previous F3F races held by HKRCSS) or just for those who has the intention to go to VR?

It should be openned to all local pilots. We would generate a ranking list after the races.
Those who have the highest ranks in the list have the right to go to VR2006, but of course if he chose not to go, the one next in the list will have the right and so on...

Choose two from below then:

18 December 2005 (Sunday)
8 January 2006 (Sunday)
15 January 2006 (Sunday)
22 January 2006 (Sunday)
12 February 2006 (Sunday)
19 February 2006 (Sunday)

We should set the dates for the two races at least two weeks apart for people to take rest and maintain their planes after the first race.

Cheers

I'll expect new HK record be established. As these guys (I mean those, but not limited to, who are compulsory to be on duty during the WTO period) can take so many days 'comp. leave' after the WTO to practice day-after-days before the race days.

I agree with Ah So. We can fix certain weekends. If weather forecast is OK, we can run the contest. Otherwise, we can defer to next time slot.

Moreover, we can even run a winter league.

18 December 2005 (Sunday)
8 January 2006 (Sunday)
15 January 2006 (Sunday)
22 January 2006 (Sunday)
12 February 2006 (Sunday)
19 February 2006 (Sunday)

It is more appropriate to make use of this money for hiring buzzermen in order to provide a smooth and fair competition.

:D :D

Ah KIN,

Seems that you are very confident to win the qualifying contest.

How much?
It depends on your expectation. Apart from the air ticket, hiring a small car would cost 50 pounds a day (this could be shared by the team). B&B (bed and breakfast) would cost 25 pounds a day. 10 pounds on food per day, and 10 pounds for beers each night. Expenses on girl? Who knows!!

The prices were based on my last visit in Y2K, I think MAK, CM and Angus could have more recent information.

Cheers,
