Hey Stanley, I think Pong Pong was also a key helper for the second half of the race : Timing in Base A and launching F3F ships ! He also left something in Base A ! Therefore later on I reluctant to return there (Base A) and stay close to the CD (Contest Director) for helping to press the F3F timer

Yesterday was certainly a wonderful day ! Absolutely impressive for watching real sub 40s performance – totally different from watching race videos

Really lucky to learn more from a completely different perspective – watching most of the race from Base A and the CD floor. Just want to share a few learnings. Please don’t laugh at me in case it sounds too obvious. I’m still a learner and guess it could be useful for other potential F3F participants. Feel free to add or correct me if you have better advices !

1. Fastest F3F planes : Probably will be the those used for day-to-day practice  It may not be fully perfect (i.e. repaired) but mechanically perfect together with pilots’ fingers ! Example will be the New Sting from Kolo Wai (with 1/3 wing’s flipping) and the NYX from Ah Mak (broken tail repaired). Of course, there are some top pilots equipped with “magic fingers”, able to fly any new planes very well with short learning curve

2. Turning style : Far more complicated than I expected – need different turning style for various wind conditions – different turning style to fit different planes. A lot to learn

3. Passing the bases : Most pilots made the turn after they heard the beep. In some circumstances, the plane may already passed 10 – 20 metres ! So far I was shocked by the way in which New Sting passed Base A – every lag just past the Base, every lag almost followed the same track like a train ! Pure confidence and not rely on the beep at all

4. Landing : Now I fully understand why Ah Pong and Master Leung used to practice landings repeat and repeat again in FNS ! So important for normal and super windy conditions like yesterday – or otherwise will fall out from the race during a crash (me)

5. Fixings : The most promising materials for wing skins will be soft drink cans ! Be sure to bring one for next race  Others like AA glue, servo horns, batteries will be important for urgent fixing

Time to repair my planes – a lot to do before fly again. Wish the HK race team can repair their F3F planes very soon for the Welsh Open

Just found some movies taken when the masters were practicing a day before the race.

Obviously, Y.C.'s Elita has very good energy retention.

Fat Fai's NYX F3F is pretty fast for this kind wind condition

Ah Wing crashed his Hypnosis badly before the race! What's a bite to him! For his the good memory of his Hypnosis, here two movies taken on the practice day.
Hypnosis is a good plane, hope that Ah Wing would be able to bring it back to the contest.

Wow ! Thanks for posting the Hypnosis video !

There were BIG bites on each of the wing panel and wing joiner was broken

Carbon fibre + micro ballon + epoxy for several nights. Now almost 85% repaired but still awaiting for shippment of a new wing joiner

Hope to bring it to slope again  practice, practice, practice !
