Albert,

Wow, lot's of activity in the Thermal forum this past week! This is awesome :D

Yes, let's plan a fun meet and I'll try to help 'coach' some DLG specific things, such as launch, flight modes, presets, etc.
I cannot see a grass area on google maps? Do you have any photos Mak?

Nam Sang Wai is not very suitable, way too many people on weekends. What about that field in Sai Kung you guys mentioned last time?

Sunday is best for me, but please let me know in advance so I do not schedule any events or activities in SCSA, hehe :)

You can see in the photo my 750mah 1s lipos. I don't have their dimensions, if you want I will measure it when I get home. I bought them from Hobbyking for ~$2.5USD each shipped to Vancouver.

Now I bought some round cell (14500 type) 1200mah 3.7v batteries to use, they should help me eliminate most noseweight (I use carbon tails, so they are 2 grams heavier than glass tails).

these are ~4RMB from Taobao

Hi there,

I am building my Akcent 2 DLG now. I am going to use WAYPOINT W-038CL servos for crosstail and Hyperion DS09 servos for the wing.
I bought an 880mAH 1s 3.7V and when I tested it with my JR RC813B reciever, the telemetry said the reciever has 3.7V, the blue LED lighted but the servos are not moving. Look like that the 1s LiPo voltage of 3.7V is insufficient for this receiver, isn't it? I checked the spec of the receiver, the operating voltage is between 4.0v to 8.5V.
Really want to know how your installation can work with 1s Lipo!

Hi Stanley,

I am using 1s on my RG631B and RG831B receivers on all my planes. Nearly all servos should work on 1s (maybe only slightly slower or less torque, but should not be noticeable in flight), so it may be a connection problem between the servo and RX. Have you tried the servos on other RX's?

The Hyperion is the same servo as what I use (just different badge), so I know first hand it works very well on 1s, I am not familiar with the WAYPOINT's so I cannot confirm that they are no problem on 1s, but chances are they are compatible and it is another issue why the servos are not moving.

Nice looking plane ;)

That's strange!
When I turned on my RG831B receiver with 1s 3.7V, the blue lights were on for about 5 seconds. During this period all servos were functioning. Afterward, it stopped working with light off. The battery was fully charged and the telemetry reading in Tx was still a 3.7V.

I tried it with a 4.8V MiNH pack, no problem at all. So I just wonder, can the receiver really work with 3.7V? The spec indicates a minimum 4.0V required.

I am still waiting for a 6 channel RG631B receiver from Ah Kin, so I have no chance to test other receivers yet

Hi Stanley, Have you ever discharged the Ultrafire on the charger? See what capacity and V drop under load?
Or you may verify the functioning under 3 cells Nimh (home wireless phone or walkie talkie battery).

I know the battery is ok because I also tested it in my LED torch and has been gone through a charge/discharge cycle. I also has a 1s Lipo of different brand, 650mAh fully charged, but the result is the same. I will test it again with a 3 cell NiMH tonight. :?:

That's interesting, I've tested my receivers down to 3.6V with no problem, but I set my alarm to 3.7v to be safe. What is the voltage of your cell fully charged? My 1s lipo's are about ~4.2V fully charged, and on a 750mah 1s I can get about 3 hours of usage before it hits 3.7V.

The RG631B and RG831B receivers are thoroughly tested to be 1s compatible so you can rule that out, I would presume it is something to do with the quality of the 1s lipo as well. I'm using Turnigy Nano-tech batteries right now form Hobby King and they're very good. I'm down to my last few though, so I bought some Ultrafire 1200mah's to try, I have tested them to hold about 11XX mah, but have not testing them on my RX yet.

Stanley,
Why use UltraFire?
This beautiful plane deserve a better battery !

(LED lights can work right down to 2.8 volt, but receivers require higher voltage)

I just found out the problem! It is my battery connector which has a bad contact.

Now I can use UltraFire 880mAH, no problem. Even the voltage dropped to 3.5V is still ok.
I also brought a Nitecore 650mAH which is more expensive than UltraFire, and it also works fine.

I fully charged this battery to 4.2V and when it was connected to the receiver, the telemetry indicated a 3.8V. So I think I will set the low voltage alarm at 3.4V to be safe.

By the way, what kind of control linkage system you guys used in rudder/elevator, metal push rod or push/pull string?
I guess metal push rod is more heavy :? :?
