Who else is interested in going to Humen in Dongguan on Dec 9th for our contest?
So far the following pilots from HK should be going:
Thomas Lee
Michael Pang
Kin Cheung
Stanley Chan

Come on Johnson, Allen, and everyone else :) It will be a great experience, hehehe

9 Dec is our F3F Dec league.
It will be an important contest to determine the first tier HK F3F ranking of the year. The few top guys will fight neck to neck for a thin margin to win.
See the running league score here:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2291&start=23

as well as the 貝納頌 and 保礦力 challenge s of various groups. I think Stanley will probably stay in HK.

CM and I will the CD and helper that day.
Sorry cannot come to DLG.

Yes, I will stay in HK for the last important F3F race on 9 Dec unless it is cancelled one day earlier due to weather consideration - no wnd?

Aiya, that's too bad.
Hopefully the F3F race is postponed, hhehehe :P

How do you fit 750 & 1200 mah batteries into your dlg?
What is the size and weight ?
What brand and model is it?

I found this 550mah battery, it seems to fit most dlg :

Mak, 1s 550mah is OK la. You can get it from rc cars shop at 廣华街. They are mainly used in Mini Z car or tiny helicoptor so the discharge C is higher than enough. Of course you can get similar at 鴨寮街 at uncertain discharge C with a cheaper price.

Just to remind you there are 1s LiFe (3.3V) cells in the rc market but it is not good in DLG application.

Hi Mak, that battery will work, and is convenient if you are switching from nimh. You will need to add more noseweight though.

I install my batteries before servos, and they are not removable. I do all my charging and on/off via a switchjack.

You can see in the photo my 750mah 1s lipos. I don't have their dimensions, if you want I will measure it when I get home. I bought them from Hobbyking for ~$2.5USD each shipped to Vancouver.

Now I bought some round cell (14500 type) 1200mah 3.7v batteries to use, they should help me eliminate most noseweight (I use carbon tails, so they are 2 grams heavier than glass tails).

these are ~4RMB from Taobao

Oh ! install batteries before servos ! ?
That mean you have to know your CG before your plane was built.

If you buy UltraFire batteries from TaoBao, beware of false batteries.
A lot of them doesn't give the quoted amp.
even the real UltraFire (a Chinese brand) are always over quoted in capacity !
( I used UltraFire before. It don't last long )

It is best built that way in my opinion. If you use the switchjack, you can charge it very easily and never need to open the fuselage hatch. You need to balance the CG before you glue the servos, it should be pretty close, then glue it. Then afterwards, you can finetune the CG with very little lead.

That is only the photo, the ones I bought are Sanyo (I think, maybe fake too, hehehe!!!!), but I tested them with a discharge and charge and they are almost 1100mah, so quite close to advertised 1200.

If you can buy the Hyperions or Turnigy's, those are great. I love the Turnigy nano-tech batteries but I cannot order from Hobbyking when I am in HK :( Do you know if they sell Turnigy cells locally?

Thomas, you may try to access H.o.b.b.y.k.i.n.g or sometimes similar on ebay. Turnigy brand does not appear in local market but a walk at Kwong Wah Street may work.

By the way, what charger setting do you use for that 18450 cell, Lion , LifePo??? :?

Hi Johnson, good point. I charged my cells with 1s LiPo setting on my Accucell 6, usually at 3-4C, and sometimes 0.5C-1C if I want to fill it to almost full capacity.
Thanks for the tip on Hobbyking, I'll give that a try, their turnigy's are so good.....

Thomas

If there is enough interest, we can do a funfly/practice/intro session in December or January.
I can do a short launch clinic, and a brief intro on how to setup a DLG (flightmodes/presets/etc).

We can then fly for a few hours and then explain the different tasks. Then we all fly 1 task together so everyone knows what it's like to fly a task.

Sorry, I cannot write Chinese very well :( So I need to post in English.

http://www.tsmx.cn/bbs/forumdisplay.php?fid=158

RCgroups.com
