Hello fellow DLG-holic, let's gather this Sunday at the TKO industrial area flying site and try out the site.

Time: Morning, as early, say early 7:30am, as you can. Cars can be parked next to the road.

Please bear in mind there are construction sites nearby , so please launch and fly with reliable equipment and with greatest caution even the DLG is light.

We may need to share the site with rc cars or other modellers later in the day, (I really don't know), so please be considerate.

Hi Johnson,

That's great, I will be there around 7:30... unless I get lost! I have never driven by myself outside of Yuen Long or Tuen Mun..haha
Does anyone else live in Yuen Long or Tuen Mun? I can pick you up and you can help my directions :)

I'm looking forward to finally meeting all you guys and flying DLGs.

Thomas

For those who has trouble with your dead rx battery on the DLG, you may try dry CR2 x2 cells for cameras as an alternative , at least for this gathering. This is good enough for a whole morning session.

I will also have some spare 4.8v NiMH rx packs if anyone needs to borrow 1 or 2.

I don't think I will drive there anymore, I will get dropped off at the TKO field by my dad, and take the MTR back home. Will someone be able to give me a lift to the Lohas park mtr station?

On return trip, that's easy. We should have many pilots who drive.
See you this Sunday then. I am busy in fixing my Longshot.....its tail fell off when I recovered it from a packing box.

Perfect, that sounds good :)

I think most of the DLG pilots in HK use the Longshot?
I am busy finishing a new prototype as well:

I hope I can finish it tonight and test fly it tomorrow morning before work :)

Thanks! It is a prototype of a model my company will be making :)
I am trying many things on it though, so the wing already looks very old :(

A very beautiful model!

Hi Thomas, it is not very clear in the photo, but it seems that the tail plane support is moulded on the boom. Is it a traditional Pod + Boom design or it is a one piece fuselage? The evevator is very large too! And the spar . . . I don't see carbon lamination on the top, and probably not on the bottom too. The two black lines should be two pieces of vertical carbon plate. Is it correct?

Thank you :)
It is a 1-piece fuselage with a moulded pylon for the elevator. DLG technology has advanced a lot in the last couple years, I will bring a Steigeisen on Sunday as well, and you can see it takes nearly all the technology from larger F3X models.

The elevator is about 5% larger than typical to help increase the speed envelope. The airfoil is very thin and fast (about 6%). The elevator has 2 carbon rods, 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom. Vertical has 4 rods, and the wing has 4 rods as well.

Vertical carbon plate is not efficient in weight, because the shear portion of the spar does not need to be very strong. If you place the plate horizontally, it is very easy to buckle. Hence, it is common practice for many bagged planes to use carbon rods, because they are stiffer and less likely to buckle, but more expensive than the plates and carbon cloth spars.

CM, I am afraid we are way lagged behind in the DLG technology. I am still in the LongShot 1 acade. Let's get on the time passage to catch up the latest technology.
Recently, a video of Joe Wurt's Black Magic tells us that DLG can fly FAST!.

Johnson, yes, the current trend for DLGs is to launch high and fly fast to cover more ground and be able to go further downwind and still come back.

Actually, JW was flying a Stobel V3 in that video :) The Black Magic is a very light plane and slower.

At least:
1 The security guard jumps out from nowhere in view of big group gathering
2 Power planes/heli in the sky leading to safety concerns
3 RC buggies on the ground threatening our legs
4 Rain
5 Exhausted

So at least from 7:30 to 10:30 am
