Stanley: Correct

Ah So: Ah So flew Race M to make the record. The Extreme was crashed and he didn't bring it to TR09.

We came back from Jeju midnight yesterday and haven't had time to post picture yet.
OK, here is a photo of the official result sheet.
http://www.rcsail.com/tmp/TR2009_result.jpg

We had 3 rounds of contest the first day, 5 rounds of contest in the second, and 0 round in the third day as the wind was small and variable in direction. So all together we had only 8 rounds.

The top three positions all went to Taiwan team, although we fought hard trying to push up the position. With the cancellation of contest in the third day, we had no chance.

Ah Pong got a 4th place, I got a 5th and Mak got a 6th. The final scores for the 2nd to 6th positions are very close.

But we won the team award for our SMP team, well done teammates!

Personally, I was fortunately to break my own record to have a 32.75s run in the fifth round, which let me to grab the best speed award. Thank you. More photos and movies will be posted here once I have time.

Some photos for the TR2009 event

HK team arrived at the hotel on Thursday morning with an overnight flight
Image

The Korean host took us for a lunch with traditional Korean food
Image

After lunch, we went straight to the slope for a half day practice together with the Korea, Taiwan and Singapore team. The flying slope was on top of a dead volcano, and the slope is round outside with some overgrown trees which were a bit challenging for us.
Image

However, the landing was easy, and this slope is also DS capable, so I did DSing using my Aris for great fun!
Image

After an overnight flight with only 2 to 3 hours of sleep, C.M. was really enjoying a snooze after a practicing runs
Image

Back to the hotel after the practice, and we still had time to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the balcony of the hotel room
Image

The first day for the contest was another small volcano slope, and we needed to hike 150m up
Image

This slope is very challenging, not only is its length is short, maybe about 120m, but also it is a bit round outside, which will have side wind on both side. Also, the average wind speed that day was only about 4 to 5 m/s
Image

OK, Hong Kong team had a group photo before the race
Image

Stanley was practicing
Image

Mak was preparing his Aris
Image

The organizer was inspecting and labeling Pong's Ceres
Image

Ah So was preparing his RaceM
Image

Stanley's FR3 on the track
Image

Mak was satisfied with his run
Image

C.M. was happy with his Extreme
Image

Colorful gliders on the slope
Image

After a day of intense contest, we started our decent back to the base
Image

Cheers for the Hong Kong team!
Image

Taiwan team had dinner in a local restaurant.
Image

After dinner we went out to buy some fireworks and then went to the seaside for celebration
Image

An official group photo in the third day of the event. The wind was weak and variable in the third day, the organizer tried to run a round but unfortunately, the wind changed direction and got weaker at the middle of the round, so the contest was called off
Image

A group photo for the Hong Kong team
Image

Taiwan team has done a fantastic job and performed consistently well to grab the top three awards. Fortunately, the HK team can still keep the best speed award with a stunning 32.75s record!

Ah Pong got a prize? He is on the forth place, how come?

Oh! It was a mistake! Sorry, Pong Pong! Don't cry!

These are beautiful trophies for the winners

Team award for the 2nd runner up is MOS Tiger (well .....)

Team award for the 1st runner up is 大同山小綿羊

Champion team award is SMP, cheers!

I think the scoring system is incorrect. How come they minus 0 points from the total score? Shouldn't they minus the slowest run score from the total score? "0" is DNF, DNS or disqualified race.

Base on my calculation, Mak should be in 4th position.

The scoring is correct.
If the number of rounds completed in a race is between 4 and 14, each pilot is allowed to discard one of his own worse score, a DNF is only the worse with 0 score, so it will be discarded. Normally, if a pilot has one DNF, he is still competitive, but if he got two DNFs, he is basically finished.

Strange way of calculation. So you are saying it is better for a pilot to have 1 DNF than to complete the entire event?

Total points minus Zero still give you all your points.

Total points minus your slowest will give you lesser points.

Hi Dennis,

An example can make it clear:

Let say there are 5 rounds flown, and a pilot got the following result:

500, 600, 700, 800, 900

Discard the worst (500) and the final score he got is 600+700+800+900=3000

If he has a DNF in one of the rounds, that round will be 0 mark and it is discard. For example:

DNF, 600, 700, 800, 900. Final score = 600+700+800+900=3000

500, DNF, 700, 800, 900. Final score = 500+700+800+900=2900

500, 600, DNF, 800, 900. Final score = 500+600+800+900=2800

500, 600, 700, DNF, 900. Final score = 500+600+700+900=2700

500, 600, 700, 800, DNF. Final score = 500+600+700+800=2600

CM的說明很清楚
扣一回合的意思是把有可能遇到的不平等扣掉
四個回合可扣一回合
十三個回合可扣二回合
記得是這樣

Many congrats to Taiwan team! What a great men! They won all prizes.
Especially, Stanley, you won the best speed prize by 32.75s. Congratulation!

Unfortunately I couldn`t join you this time. Probably we can meet each other in Jeju and fly together one day.
Just hope there`s not many things bothered you during TR 2009.

Many thanks to all of you, Hong Kong & Taiwna, Singapore, for coming to Jeju for TR. Thanks again.

Hi Apple,

Long time no see!
Thanks for good videos of TR2009.
In the video of day2 0129, the pilots is Im Kil Jeon. He is one of the best pilots in Korea, but he couldn`t enter the top ranking this time because he received his Artist on the first day of TR2009 and the plane was not completed to be set-up. I`m sorry to hear that from him.
Anyway, thanks for your efforts taking many videos of other guys.

Hi Young-Seok Shin,

I have seen Artist during TR2009 and am amazed JK has put lots of professional workmanship into it. I am sure it will be a competitive model in the hand of a good pilot. In fact, Chang Gi Seong has flown it very well to get a 35.51s. If not I have some luck to run fast in round 6, he might have already crowned the title of speedy man, sorry G.S.

I hope JK would be able to produce it in large volumn later.

I am sorry to miss you in Jeju, hope you would be able to join us next year in Hong Kong.

Stanley

Does anyone know the F3F record of the FreeStyler III? Just wondering if Stanley's 32.75 is the fastest in the world. :)

I do not know whether it is the world record for FR3, but I pretty sure that is the fastest record for all the planes that I've repaired.

Good! I still have my potential record-breaking Ceres lying in deep coma in my bench.
Image
Image
So would you give it a chance?

By the way, we have discussed on the slope last Sunday after Fat Fai crashed his brand new Ceres. In comparing with mind which was obviously constructed with two "thinned" layers of carbon, Fat Fai's one is even worse with only one layer of "thinned" carbon. I wonder why Fat Fai's damage was so severe even it was only a small crash. Sorry, Fat Fai, I know you would not be happy to know about this!
