Five confirmed contestants so far!
I really don't have any idea how many would come. As usual from my past experience, more will come at last minute without notice - but this time, I think the number of contestants will be LOW!

Anyway, I thought if the number is too low, either we can still go to Sham Chung for flying DLG or electric gliders (no competition) or postpone the contest to a week later.

What do you guys suggest? I think we need to make the decision by Friday afternoon.

Hi Stanley,
Ken will have the monthly teaching program next week and combat event on 15/10.

Can we propose several days here to vote for the LMR events, as not as it doesn't crash with other planned activities.

Johnson 24/9, 1/10, 8/10, 22/10, 29/10
Kin 22/10
Uncle Sing 22/10
Allan 1/10, 8/10, 22/10, 29/10

By the way, IF a F3F event is to be held this Sunday, who WILL NOT come? Ah Kin...sorry...hehe!

Johnson

We do not want to change the activity dates because every changes will affect some pilots as everybody has their own schedules. The event date was fixed long time before so if any contestant want to attend, they will plan it already and informed us. Our plans should not rely on those "who come at last minute without notice."

Since there are only 5 contestants joining and a lot of other pilots want to join but showed Cannot, due to some reasons. My suggestion is to check with those 5 contestants see whether they have problem if the event date changed to Oct 22. If they all showed OK, then we can start to talk about the date change issues. We are open to hear comments.

If you know some pilot friends who do not read this forum everyday, please help to check with them and post their comments here or call Stanley or me, so we can announce the final decision by tomorrow morning.

BTW, is it ok to fly electric during eastern wind of force 5 - 6 ? (weather forecast 5 -6) I only got a weak simply balsa plane with "powerless" 380 motor

Hi Wing,

I am also using a cheap Speed 400 motor. With gear reduction it can turn a big prop to increase the efficiency. My plane can climb at 45 degree. Try this :o

Hi Wing and CM,
We all use S400 and we can have a challenge amongst ourselves as S400 class.

Next Sunday (1/10) is national day holiday and 8/10 is Mid Autumn festival so I guess most of you will not prefer to postpone the e-plane contest to these days. Then, the most possible date is 22/10 as you suggested. So in that case, let's postpone the contest to 22 Oct.

By the way, the wind will be strong easterly this Sunday, instead, shall we go up to Ma On Shan to run an informal F3F contest with timing gear setup and base judges? How many of you will go to Ma On Shan then?

I can not go flying on Sat afternoon for the next three months, and may only be able to pop up in Sunday occasionally, so I appreciate very much the chance of having good wind to fly

Just mentioned in "Where to fly" I will be practicing F3F in Ma On Shan this weekend. Wish more pilots can join and practice together :o

Hey guys,

Are you interested in the electric glider contest to be held next Sunday? It is extremely quiet about this. The contest was postponed once due to insufficient number of contestants, I really like to check out who will be coming to ensure that we can run the contest meaningfully with sufficient number of participants. I assume the following pilots will be there, let me know if you are also interested:

C.M. Cheng
Stanley Chan
Ah Kin
Uncle Sing
Johnson Yeung
Boyd McManus
Allan Yeung
Ah Wing

Current total = 8
Come on, we need more!!!

Of course, you can use any electric plane including pylon racer for the contest. In fact, as I remember in the last contest held in Lamma Is., a fellow pilot used a pylon racer to shoot up to extreme height in 40 seconds, but the sinking was proved too much for him to compete efficiently on duration.
