Hi,

Anyone has experience with the Scorpio? Wonder how it flies.

Thanks

If you mean the white plane with green wings, then I've thrown it before.

- Very very easy to assemble
- easy to break as the wings are wood-ribs construction
- speed is not fast as it is supposed to be a thermal glider
- roll-rate is low as the aileron is small (chord-wise)

For price around $600~$700, a high-performance EPP (JW, Electron, Bluto, Redback...) is much better - durable and fast. Of course you have to spend more time on the construction.

Are you first to glider, or finding some alternative?

Hi Danny,

Thanks for the information.

I'm wondering whether to put a power plant in it, as I've not seen it slope before. I've seen one with a power plant and it flew quite well.

I'm from Singapore and sloping is only possible from around Nov. to Mar. So far only have one season of sloping experience.

Those EPP models that you have mentioned, do they require strong winds to stay up? I'm interested in the JW but it was more designed for DSing right? How does it fly as a sloper? Or would you recommend other models?

Thanks.

KH, there is a EPP glider shown in the forum EPP, get in there and click Easy EPP glider, it design and fabricated by Tze Ming, I saw it fly very well both with power and gliding, I think you will like it! Patrick

KH,

If you've got a season of sloping experience, then I presume you would like to find a glider which could lead you to the intermediate level. So, those rudder planes could be ruled out.

Also, you have only a month or so with good winds in your area, then you may target an electrical-powered glider.

I suggest you go for the e-Bee (also from Tze Ming). It's a flying wing, with elevons which you could do rolls. The price is also low. You can also make the power pod removable so that when the wind blows, you can have several hours non-stop fun.

For JW (and other high-performance EPP), I don't think they are really bias to DS. You can slope a JW as good as other crunchies / composite planes in the front side. Of course, their indestructive nature make them real good trainer for DS.

Hope you could figure out your way to the soaring world :)
