Hi Pong Pong Not sure the progress for fixing landslide but early this week I saw a pilot came directly from the Shatin Pass Road to Jat's road flying site, then drove his car directly (in reverse direction I think depending on the fixing progress it may need to walk up to the eastern slope after parked at Jat's incline - so better check before the training on 8/28. I may go to FNS (or MOS) this Saturday for trimming and practicing. Will post an update here if I know the situation has been rectified. Really a pity if you cannot join the race but respect a lot for your spirit in contributing the society and training up great pilots Wing |

Dear all, The road work at FNS is still in progress. I parked my car at southern slope (Shatin pass road), then walked up to eastern slope. Only me at the slope today. Although the wind was not strong, but the lift was adequate for DSing and F3F. I'd asked the guard at Shatin Pass (yes, they employed a guard thereat for preventing people driving up to the top!), but he has no idea for how long the road work would last for. Anyone have newer development, please reply at this thread. regards, Pong pong. |

As I know, the Landslide is very serious and dangous to the Road construction. There are 2 portion of landslide distributed on the road's Left and Right side. From the picture below, you can only see the part on the Road's Left. As a lot of soil was lost on the Road's Right also. The road is lacking of support, so it will take a very long time on re-in-force the construction. I think the project may not be able to complete by this month end. Even if it open, I will still wait for few more days before trying the road.

Look like that there are two sections of the road in trouble. By the way, since the road is closed for uphill section in the Fei Ngo Shan direction, can we drive up to the top from the Jat's Incline and turn our car back when leaving? Because there are no head-on traffic anyway and the police will not patrol the road also (since they can not go up from normal path anyway). |

Stanley, No lar....As I said, they had employed a guard thereat for preventing such act. Since you seldom going dwon hill to pick your plane, walking up to hilltop is good for you... Pong Pong. |

Too bad! They shouldn't stop us from driving uphill from Jat's Incline direction. Make a complaint to them saying this does not do any harm and we are not going to the landslide areas anyway. I still need to do a lot of exercise although I usually land quite accurately. The problem is midair, radio failure, lent the plane to others and so on. I am still happy to do this kind of exercise - at least to see it as a way to keep fit! Shall we organize a march up to the Fei Ngo Shan top from Jat's Incline the coming weekend to protest for the closure of the road? |
