RC Slope Soaring in Hong Kong

I am new comer to RC plane. I would like to ask you all master which remote controller should I buy. I have about $2000 budget for the controller, receiver, servos batteries and charger. I've gone to "Wai Go" to see different models and found that for similar spec, Sanwa ($15xx for R60??, not quite sure) is cheaper than Futaba ($15xx for T6XA). However, I noticed that almost all of you use Futaba. Is Sanwa also ok? Are there any difference between them? The Sanwa model is FM only while the Futaba is PCM/PPM, is there any big difference?

If this is your first model and is for learning r/c flying, I think you don't need an expensive one. Buy a cheap 4-ch one, such as Skysport-4, will be ok. Afterward, if you really want to deeply get involved in this hobby, then upgrade to a more powerful one such as Futaba FF9. In between if you buy a T6XA now (not cheap!), it may be good enough for some gliders, but it will not be sufficient later when you've mastered advanced flying skills and demand for more functionalities.

Does the Skysport-4 support "mixing"? I'd like to fly "Elec BEE" at first and will move on to other plane later.

Sanwa has been producing model R/C equipments for a very long time. In the 70's and early 80's it is as popular as Futaba. There is no doubt in their quality but I would not suggest a beginner to buy it for his first R/C. The most important thing is that it is difficult to seek help in the field. Not many people are using Sanwa for R/C aircrafts now. And for the same reason you cannot use the trainer system to link up with the others.

I agree with Stanley: buy a cheap R/C first. When you are ready, change to a 8 or 9 ch transmitter. The middle range 6ch is nearly useless for a six servos sailplane, and you will find a lot of limitations when using it in helicopters.

SkySport does not have mixer, but you can buy a 3 in 1 mixer made by Windrider (manufacturer of the Bee). It includes mixer, low battery buzzer and lost buzzer which I think is a good deal.
