Hello all,

After the last F3F race which some of us have to walk down the mountain in the dark. I'm going to make a torch using super bright LEDs, which was supposed for my EPP night flying.

The LED torch will make use of receiver batteries for power, so that I don't have to carry extra batteries.

So, I need to know what is the working voltage for each LEDs, which should work with 4x1.2v battery packs.

Dear Mak,

As far as I know, most of those ultalight LEDs are work at 6V. I immediately try them at 4.8V at home. Guess what, it works well, althought it is not as bright as working with 6V, but is good enough for you purpose.

Regards.

I think you should not connect it directly to a NiCd / NiMH that can supply a high current. As I know 6V should be out of the working voltage of all the LEDs (except the Luxeon 5W). The LED will get hot and eventually damaged.

Hi,

Thank you all for the suggestions, but it is getting complicated !
The LED torch will get used once or twice a year. If the LEDs can last for the jorney down the hill, it'll be OK for some of them to be burned in a long run. They are so cheap to replace !

However, since there are different voltage for each colour. and I've got LEDs in many different colours ! Can one of you list out the voltage for each colour please!
