What is the best time in Hong Kong? Is it 35sec?

I guess several top pilots in HK certainly have been practicing very hard but really pity that for F3F races in HK we always experience zz.zz wind zz.zz lift - only "recent" exception seems back to 828 on 2005 :x (Just share the facts on a neutral way )

Not sure if we want consider like other countries put foward some racing calender as a regular monthly event - which may increase the "hit" for better conditions for our top pilots to create new HK records - I am confident they can do that with appropriate conditions :o

It is a good idea to arrange a race calenda. We may propose to have a F3F race on the first Sunday of every month or every two months. If weather is not permitted, it will automatically be cancelled. We may not need to have trophies for every race, we just keep the score and ranking list, the final awards will be given in the year end during AGM.
Any other idea?

Some further ideas to share re racing calendar ...

1. Schedule monthly : Say first Sunday every month sounds very good ! Alternatively if HKRCSS want continue conduct soaring training on every first Sunday, perhaps we can make it second Sunday every month - just an option

2. Timing : In view of lots of pilots need to "report duty" for their wife(s) and/or girl friend(s), may be we can organize the races (subject to condition) either something like :

a. 9am to 14pm (OR)

b. 12pm to 17pm

instead of full day event which may help pilots to more "escape"

Given we have experience in running f3f races and based on prior records, 5 hours should be sufficient of 6 or more rounds

3. Equipment : Just worry it will be hard to carry timer with the heavy connecting cables - C M is very "fit" already. C M any idea if you want customize the timer for wireless button pressing ? (i.e. minimize the heavy wiring) 8)

To run a half-day contest is the same to run a full-day contest to me because my wife still not happy with this.

I think I would suggest we run a race on the second Sunday of every month and there will be a maximum of 12 races per year, then we select 5 personal best scores for each pilot to generate a ranking list. The award will be given at the year end.

So if a pilot can not attend all the races (sure I can not, my wife will kxxx me), he still be able to compete for the final award based on only 5 best races he has attended. Of course, if he attends more he should get better result.

I would also suggest the following rules to decide on the venue:

If wind speed below scale 2, the race is cancelled.
If easterly wind, go to Ma On Shan
If southerly wind, go to Fei Ngo Shan (South Peak)
If northeasterly wind, go to High Junk Peak

Because we have some problems in the past regarding the timing gear and the poles, I would like to hear some suggestions on a possible protocol to decide who will be responsible for the equipment on the race day. Any idea?

Agree with Stanley's proposal.

We can share the timing gears so that the match can run easier. Would CM make the timer a bit lighter, e.g. for battery and carrying box?

Half-day or one-day slip is different for some pilots but anyway, we can keep it for one-day. Half-day can be informal contest.
