I looked at the weather history in Taegu, S. Korea. The average temperature around 20 April in the past few years varied from 12C to 18C. So it is just like we are in winter time. It should be quite a pleasant time to visit.

Korean firend sent me an email saying that they have run a F3F race last Sunday in the Golden Mountain. Here is their result
Image

The race was won by Lee who has attended both HK Open and Taiwan Open before.

Regarding the accomodation, and travel arrangement for the Korean Open in April, they have identified a hotel in Daegu city which costs at about US$80 per night. http://www.soosunghotel.co.kr

Others arrangements :
- They will pick up overseas visitors from hotel to slope and visa versa everyday
- T-shirt and lunch pack are provided
- On Friday night, there is a virtual F3F competition party using projector and simulation (Hey, Ah Pong this is your strong part!)
- On Saturday night, Banquet will be held in Korean food buffet restaurant.

They are going to make a web page to put in more detailed information about the Korean Open later.

By the way, they said that more Korean pilots are getting interest in F3F and they will probably send 10 pilots to come to Hong Kong this November to join the 2007 Hong Kong F3F Open.

How many of you want to go to Korean Open? I need to make the travel arrangement soon.

The Korean F3F pilots recently created a web page for posting the information of Korean Open. Here is the link:

http://krsoar.com/

Please have a look on the detailed arrangement. Initially, I guess we will start the journey on 19 April, arrive Taegu on the night.

Departure date after the contest can be on Sunday night, 22 April or the next day morning.

There are some movies taken by the Korean pilots for the F3F contests they held recently in Golden Mountain. The site looks pretty good for F3F as well as for DS. It is a bit cold at the moment but the weather would be nice in April.

Hi, C.M.,

I think we better consolidate the HK team list first and then we submit the entry form in batch.

Currently, we have the following pilots confirmed to go:

C.M. Cheng
Stanley Chan
Angus Lee
K.Y. Mak

Pilots interested but not yet confirmed
Fat Fai
Ko Lo Wai

Any more?

Fat Fai has decided to go, but Ko Lo Wai will have the decision much later, end of March. So we better arrange the accomodation and air tickets for five of us first. I will ask Lee from Korea to help us to book 3 rooms in the recommended hotel.

Please send me PM for the frequencies and models used so that I can help you to do the batch registration

By the way, we also need to team up (3 pilots per team) because the organizer might have a team award.

Who want to team with me? (SMP team: Ah Pong we miss you)

Hi Stanley and CM,

Backup slope for the Korean Open.

Lee posted some information regarding that there is a backup slope for southerly wind.
The slope is in Jangbok mountian on the southern cost near Jinhae (also not far away from Pusan). It is one-hour car drive from Daegu. Look like a really good slope to me.

Hi Stanley,

The T-shirt and the banquet are all blank in the entry list. Are we going to "eat ourselves"? :P

Don't worry! We should have the banquet together, right?
I will send the information about the T-shirt sizes later. I assume to use the sizes of the T-shirt we have for HK open two years ago, unless you said otherwise.

By the way, Lee has helped us to book 3 rooms in the recommended hotel. 2 rooms for 4 nights (19-22) and 1 room for 3 nights (20-22).
We will arrive in two batches:

C.M., Fat Fai and me will depart early morning on 19 April while Mak and Angus will take the overnight flight on mid night 19 April.

The first group will take the 4-hour bus to Daegu from Incheon airport while the second group will be picked up by the Korean r/c pilots and drive them directly to the flying site.
